Man himself is full of many possibilities, but it depends on his relation with the object-person situation around him that can bring forth a good or bad prospect from within him.
A man may be of present times or of the bygone past, but the flow of his life remains eternal.
Man’s life is going by in the present as it was going on centuries ago and shall go on the sameway even centuries in the future. The passage of life does not change with time but the life a man lives keeps on changing from time to time and person to person. To say, there is a lot of stress in the outer world, there is conflict, there is competition and that is why man is suffering. But one who has known this eternal flow of life in all its dimensions, says that the cause of pain is not in the outer world but is very much in the internal thoughts and actions of man himself.
Relationships – Prosperous or Poor?
The entire life of man always keeps on getting tied up in the criss-cross web of relationships.
From day to night, from childhood to old age and from birth to death, our life keeps on creating relationships with inert objects as well as conscious living beings. A poor relation with these objects-persons-situations makes us unhappy and sad whereas a prosperous and acceptive relation with them makes us happy and joyful. As an example – I have a phone but I am not happy with its model, shape, functions etc. so the relation with this phone will continue to annoy and hurt me. We can have the similar kind of hurting relationship with our house, clothes, food, cars etc. In the same way, if in our life our relationship are formed with people, and yet we keep on highlighting their drawbacks and mistakes, keep on speaking of that, keep on focusing on those weaknesses then our relation with other human beings also becomes very annoying, hurting and painful.
Relationships are Inevitable
Human beings have always been a social being, so the creation of relationship is inevitable. Their relation to the worldly objects and circumstances keeps on changing with age and their own interests and disinterests but man’s relation with other humans is inevitable and very natural. Even nature makes sure that as soon as a child is born his relations with other human beings come predetermined as a mother-father, brother-sister, uncle-aunt etc. Its this by-birth natural selection of relationships which is responsible for bringing out the best or worst out of every single child born. Man himself is full of many possibilities, but it depends on his relation with the object-person situation around him that can expose a good or bad prospect from within him.
The Mathematics of Relations
Since two humans are not alike, their relational value will be either more than two or less than two. When their association with parents, friends or spouse is 1+1>2, then this relation is prosperous and pleasant, but when this addition is 1+1<2, then this relation is poor and miserly. Come, lets examine this mathematics of relationships with our personal experiences of life and make the necessary corrections: Whatever our close relationships in life are – whether it is of parent’s with their child, a friend’s with a friend or a husband’s with a wife, or with any other person or object or a situation – if the value of our relationship is 1+1>2 then our life will be full of lightness, happiness, creativity, satisfaction and a wish of service to others. Adversally, if the value of our relationship is 1+1<2 then feelings of stress, sadness, despair, emptiness and dissatisfaction will be intense in our life.
Another Mysterious Relation
1 + 1 = 11
Since all the flow of my life flows towards spirituality, it won’t give a feeling of completeness by not having an understanding of, not to say about and not to write about the Oneness of Existence which is so much over and above the Dualities of the world. Standing tall and high over all natural relations, there is a spiritual relation – a relation of a ‘Guru-Shishya’ (Mentor-disciple) which is such a holy, pure and energetic relationship which makes even a 1+1 as 11. When the self-aware consciousness of Sri Guru gets graced on and added to the surrender and dedication of the disciple, then the life of the disciple is filled with the ultimate Godly possibilities.
Living the guru guided life blesses the disciple with a ‘nearness’ to the existence of sri guru,
wherein the disciple experiences himself filled with new life force and energy. When the disciple’s worldly relations with a mother-father-brother-friend get transcended into a spiritual relation with his ‘Sri Guru’, then all scarcity and dissatisfactions of relationships get rid of the disciple. Guided by Sri Guru’s teachings, a soulful appraisal and a meditative answer, the disciple’s sense of equality between sri guru and God starts getting stronger.
With the rise of a spiritual vision, the mysteries of human life and its utility start to unfold in the disciple. The physical nearness of Sri Guru’s presence makes man rise above the worldly attachments and on the other hand, by an obedient practice of the Sri Guru’s directives he is able to immerse himself into the internal experience of his own self-existence. Here, only the one who has immersed into himself knows his Self and one who has lost himself has attained his True Self!
